It's been a while since my last blog.  We have been busy getting ready to move.  At the moment, we are waiting for the phone call from the property manager to say, go for it.

The little car is packed to the rafters with our smaller purchases.

The furniture will be ready to pick up on the 1st of May.  Each of the three furniture stores offer delivery and set up for a fee.  We have decided to rent a truck and pick it all up ourselves.  We will be busy because everything comes disassembled.  We will have the motor home in the driveway for a couple of days.  The trade of the big motor home for the smaller motor home happens on the 2nd of May.

We will have this house until September, when the owners plan to renovate it.   At that time we will rent or perhaps buy another home.  I think that we will wait until after Christmas to travel south this year.

For those of you who don't know the Okanagan area of British Columbia, here is a bit of information for you.

You can see from the map, we are quite close to the American border.   Penticton is between two lakes, Skaha and Okanagan.  These are beautiful lakes with lots of white sandy beaches.

This picture shows both lakes.  Skaha in the foreground and the larger, Okanagan, in the background.

The population of Penticton is about 40,000 and the population of Kelowna is about 150,000.  Pretty easy to see why we have chosen the Penticton area instead of Kelowna.

This is wine country.  There are 182 licensed wineries in the area.  Driving to our rented house in Naramata, we pass about 10 wineries and quite a few restaurants.  There are 8,619 acres planted in grapes.

A Time for Change

After almost 9 years, we have decided to change things up a bit.  Well actually quite a bit.

We have traded our 38 foot Class A motor home for a 30 foot Class B motor home.  The bigger one was not fun to drive and fun is important.  The smaller one is easy to drive, both of us can drive.

Here are a few pictures for you.

There are a few features of the model we chose missing from these photos.  The one I like the most is the crescent shaped skylight at the top of the nose.

The rig has all the features of a big rig and a couple more.  Can you believe it.  30 feet long and it has wall-vac!

AND - We have leased a house in wine country.  (see picture in the header) A beautiful 3 bedroom house with a fabulous view of Okanagan Lake.  The gardens are immense.  Lots and lots of perennials about to bloom.  Colours will be amazing.

We have to furnish this house.  The basics for now as we may have to store it all.

Come September we will have figured out what to do next.  We are leaning towards renting something else, condo, apartment or another house.  We will still travel but for shorter trips and shorter times.
